Personal Statement

Ever since I first started playing volleyball at the age of nine, I knew that I had found my passion and purpose. Eight years later, my undying love for the sport has never left my side. Since then, my life has been changed tremendously, and the motivation to one day play volleyball in college continues to grow for every day that passes by.

I have great speed and agility on the court and I know my teammates can depend on me to dig and pass as many balls that come my way. I dedicate every day to learning more and improving my volleyball skills, as I strive to be a libero that can make a positive impact and push my team to success, for winning is my main goal. Not only am I a strong player physically, but I also have the qualities of being a good team leader, by encouraging effective communication on the court while taking control of the back row defense.

I pride myself on the knowledge I have of the game and my capability to be a coachable athlete, always learning something new every day. From watching and studying volleyball for hours on end on my computer to playing 12-15 hours or more of volleyball throughout the week,  I am constantly putting forth all my effort to improve myself, as I am confident there is no limit to my athletic ability with hard work and dedication.

Before I hit the court, I apply myself in school.  Halfway through my junior year, I currently have a 4.66 GPA. I am looking for a college where I can get the education I need to fulfill my life's aspirations while also representing my school by playing on their volleyball team!

Thank you,

Emily Melvin #9
