Personal Statement

Hello!

I was born in Hawaii on the island of Oahu and moved to Southern California in 2014.  My brother played basketball and football in high school and my sister played soccer and volleyball as well.

My brother and sister always invited me to pepper with them when I was little and naturally fell in love with volleyball.  In the beginning, my brother and sister motivated me to play volleyball, and playing for the Temecula Viper Club and the high school team made me love the game even more.  I love the competition and hanging out with my teammates.  All of my Club and High School coaches challenged me to get better every season.  I worked and trained hard to be the starting setter for my club and JV high school team.

If I were to describe my volleyball game it would be high energy, never give up, and trust in your coaches and teammates.  And of course, have fun!!

Regarding college, I am very interested in a career as a pharmacist and would like to attend colleges that offer Biology/Chemistry courses since my mom was in the medical field as an RN now retired.

I would love to experience the excitement of competing at the college level with my teammates.  I get very excited when I attend and watch volleyball games on campuses and can only imagine seeing my family in the crowd.  One of my dreams is to have my family and friends watch me play volleyball in college.  Especially my grandfather, cousins, aunties, and uncles back in Hawaii.

Moving from Hawaii to California was a really big adjustment for me leaving behind family and friends.  It was difficult at first but I have made lots of new friends and have adjusted to the mainland lifestyle.  Moving to California and adjusting to a new environment with new challenges made me a stronger and a better person.  I feel I am more capable of adjusting to changes and all of the challenges that come with it.  I feel this experience will only help me with going to college away from home and family in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and I hope we will meet in the future...maybe at a camp or one of your games?  Looking forward to playing college volleyball!!!

Also, please check out my tournament videos on my YouTube channel, "m5raz".

Sincerely,

Maya😊

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
