Personal Statement
I am the youngest of four, the only girl in my family, and I cannot remember a time when I did not play sports. In 6th grade, I had my first exposure to volleyball, and it was a perfect fit for my size and strength. In 8th grade, I was pulled up to play on my high school's varsity team with girls four years older then me. One of the reasons I chose to attend Suffield Academy was because of their highly regarded volleyball program. I started the fall term off strong with a successful volleyball season and a great academic term. Throughout the winter and spring term of my freshman year I also started on the varsity basketball and the varsity softball team and had strong grades to finish out the year. During the fall of my sophomore year, I lead the varsity volleyball team to an almost undefeated season, ranking number one going into the Class B Tournament. After the season, my high school coach encouraged me to try out for a club team to continue to refine my game. Currently, I play with the Connecticut Husky National team and we are competing in tournaments throughout the Northeast. Every coach I have ever played for has described me as a hard worker, strong leader, and an aggressive competitor, both on and off the court. I will work hard for any team I am on, and give 100% to make myself and the team around me better. I am excited about the prospect of playing volleyball in college and want to make sure that that I find a school that is challenging academically and athletically.
