~~I am Edmary Basco I study at West Port High School in Ocala, Fl. I just recently moved from Puerto Rico and I will be graduating in June 2015 with an interest in being a physical therapist, but also with the desire to play volleyball at the college level. One of many reasons I am writing this statement is because I've been really interested in playing at the college and being coached by one of the best coach and player there is.
One thing that I am graceful with God is that I've had the privilege to know the feedback of many coaches about me as a player and their recommendations for me to improve. Personally, I am proud of myself because I took the challenge to learn a new position knowing all the obstacles I was going to face changing from one position to another in such a short time. Even with all of those obstacles I did my very best every day I came to practice or a clinic. Even with that in my high school we won first place in district and I received an award as best offense. However, I can't mislead myself thinking that I've master it to a 100 percent, but that is my will every day I go to practice, I am one step closer of being ready. At the end of the tunnel all I want is the opportunity to be is a difference for the world as a player, student, and most important as a human being and I believe in me and I know I can do it better but I also believe that I need a excellent program and tremendous coach to accomplish one of many goals.
I recognize that I am not the best player, I don't have a millions awards, or a million emails sitting in my inbox waiting for me to open them to accept or decline the scholarship, but I have one thing that not many players have and it’s that fighting, urge, and the perseverance I have inside me to become better every time. You will ask me why do you love to play volleyball and my answer will be because in life you only have little moments to show who you truly are and I have the honor to play those 3 or 5 sets to express who I truly am. Every time I step in the court I get the fighter out, the urge to win out, I get that sense of love for the sport out in court. I don't care who I am playing against, who's looking I will fight for every point there is on the score. Volleyball has giving me the opportunity of develop myself in many ways for example my shyness goes away and my rage, my passion, my desire all of these come out every time I play. That’s what playing volleyball is all about you take out every milliliter of sweat in that one game because you never know what’s going to be your last play.
