Personal Statement
I first started playing volleyball at the age of 11 after having grown up playing tennis starting at the age of 5. I was introduced to the game of volleyball by my best friend who asked me to be her beach volleyball partner in a local tournament despite my limited experience. Since then I have been addicted to the game and I can’t imagine my life without playing. I have played club volleyball since I was 12 and have been fortunate to be on the top team each year. I also made my high school team as a starting setter as a freshman.
While I still play tennis, I have found the team aspect of volleyball to be one of the most appealing aspects. I love the game, the competition and the camaraderie that I have with competitive indoor volleyball. As our team setter, I enjoy my role as a team leader and every time I step on the court I try to lead by example. We enjoy and celebrate our wins and learn and improve from our losses.
I hope to attend a strong academic university where I will have the opportunity to obtain an excellent education which will allow me to pursue any of my interests after college, whatever they may be. At the same time, I want to compete in volleyball at the highest level of competition possible.
