Personal Statement
I began playing volleyball at age 10, as a starter for the middle school team. After playing for that season, I took an interest in playing club. I started playing club at age 10, as a starter for a 13 team. When I became a member of the varsity team in ninth grade, I started as a right side hitter. Since then, I have started as an outside hitter, right side hitter, and a setter on my high school team. I was on the court for all six rotations. I also played six rotations as a setter and right side for my club team. I am coachable and easy to get along with. I do my best to encourage my teammates and lead by example. I am a hard worker who is very determined and never gives up. I have received the Perfect Effort award for ninth and tenth grade, and twelfth grade. In the classroom I have worked hard to keep a high GPA. I am a member of the National Senior Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta (National Mathematics Honors Society). I spent two seasons at Hofstra University as a setter while also pursuing biomedical engineering. I elected to take a red shirt year my first season. I left the university on positive terms with my coaches and teammates. During my two years at Hofstra I was a CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient twice and was also on the Dean's List for the College of Engineering. I transferred to the University of Massachusetts Lowell where I played six rotations as a setter and right side. I received an all tournament team award in preseason and was ranked 14th nationally in Division I triple doubles (assists, kills, digs). The volleyball program was abruptly discontinued in late December of 2018. I am excited to pursue a new opportunity at a new institution.
