Many people I know struggle financially and even become homeless due to unemployment or low wages. One reason for this is because they do not have a college degree. By seeing the struggles of adults, I have set goals for myself in life which I feel is important to reach so I will be stable and successful in my future. I want to go to college because I know when I become an adult, I will be responsible for myself and will need to be independent. College will prepare me for independency.
I feel pursuing my goals are necessary in order for me to set a great example for my siblings and other children in our community to follow. I know my community lacks adequate health care. Going to college will help me achieve my dream of obtaining a nursing or dental hygienist degree so I can return to Pahoa and serve my rural community.
