Sophie VanSeveren '17 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Sophie, and playing collegiate volleyball and receiving my degree are two of my biggest dreams!

I feel that I can make this dream a reality with my outstanding academics, strong work ethic, fierce determination, sound leaderships skills, and exceptional athletic ability.

I play Libero for Assumption High School and our team finished with an 23-13 record.  We made it to the finals of the state qualifying matches, but came up 1 set short.  This year I again received the team's "Best Defense Award" and was honored with a 2nd Team All Conference selection (all 8 seniors on the first team are D-1 signees) as well as Hon Mention All Metro and Academic All Conference.

In the offseason, I play on the Platform Elite Volleyball Club (4 years running). We had an excellent season last year placing 5th at the Windy City National Qualifier in Chicago, 5th place at the Iowa Regional Volleyball Tournament in Cedar Falls, and 24th at the Northern Lights National Qualifier in Minneapolis.  As a starter for the club, I played Libero and was the the number one server on my team.  I am very excited about the upcoming season!!

I have been a multi-sport athlete so far in my high school career.  I participate in volleyball, basketball, track, and softball.  I have been on the Varsity volleyball team for two years, the Varsity basketball team for one year, the Varsity track team for two years, and the Varsity softball team for three years.  This year in track we were the 3A state champions.  In basketball, as a Sophomore, we won our conference.  After being pulled up to the Varsity squad, we made it to the semifinals of the state qualifying games.  In softball I am a left handed, slap hitting shortstop and the fastest girl on the team.  I am notorious for stealing bases and never getting caught!

I am very excited to continue to compete for an opportunity to play volleyball at the next level.  Through all of my volleyball experiences, as well as my involvement and success in other sports, I feel that I have the potential to make an immediate, positive impact for a program!
