What do I bring to a college program?
I possess a keen sense for the game as a skillful passer who sparks the offense and keeps us in system with my reliable serve-receive and ball control skills. I love playing stellar defense and thwarting opponents' attacks. That's why I study their tendencies - to gain every edge that will turn the tide in my team's favor. My attitude is that defense is worth two points; it is the foundation to winning.
Team chemistry is ultra-important. I dedicate myself to coaches and teammates. We are one, working together to bring out each other's strengths!
My goals for college mirror my goals for life. I pour my heart into what I do - because hard work and commitment are the cornerstones to success. I constantly strive to improve - there is no ceiling when it comes to getting better! More than just "play" volleyball at the collegiate level, I want to excel every day.
My attitude on the court is to play with intensity at all times, and energize my teammates so each of us performs at our max. Whether playing libero or DS, I view myself as a spark plug for the team who motivates and inspires so we play at our best as a unit. Communication is crucial, so I always make sure we're on the same page and working as one.
At Metea Valley High School (enrollment 2,700), I have started every varsity match at libero since Day 1 of my sophomore season (2013). Twice, I set the single season school record for digs - initially breaking the mark set by my predecessor, who received a scholarship from Rutgers University. I broke my own record as a junior in 2014.
But it's not just athletic ability - my intangibles and instincts give me an added edge. In five years of club ball at Sports Performance and Team ONE, I've trained with some of Chicagoland's most outstanding players - many of them now playing collegiately. Their work ethic, their dedication and their commitment to excellence has definitely inspired me to do the same.
On the court and in the classroom, I'm driven to succeed. I love volleyball and have a great passion for the sport. Maximizing my potential makes it that much better - achieving success is the reward for hard work.
