Hi I'm Madison, my freshman year started out like a dream. The captain of the team persuaded the coach, who didn't play freshman on Varsity, to put me on the Varsity bench. The first play of the game the captain went down and my coach put me in. I played the game of my life with the newspaper heading the following morning reading "Freshman to the Rescue"...now that was exciting! I continued to play until the captain's ankle healed. Within two games I had secured a starting position on the Varsity team, along with the captain! The captain was so supportive and encouraging and has really influenced my aspirations for college play. Of course she graduated and has gone on to play Division I for IUPUI.
My sophomore year started out exciting as well. I started as the middle hitter for the Varsity team and was named All TournamentTeam during the first tournament of the season and was also voted All Conference. I just love the momentum of the game. Blocking a hard hitter is a rush, but a kill really gets me pumped.
Junior year was a blast as well. I've continued to strengthen my abilities at the net. I earned All Conference and All South in addition to being voted to the all tournament team at each tournament we participated in. In addition, my club team participated in the MEQ Qualifying tournament in Indianapolis, IN and it was an awesome experience to see all of the ranges of teams and athletes. On a funny note, it was also nice not to be the tallest person around. :)
I've learned that I'm a positive, encouraging player and leader on the court. My teammates looked to me for direction and I enjoy building them up. This role is just as important to me as blocking and hitting.
Academically my goals are to finish high school first in my class and to earn a scholarship to an outstanding university. I'd like to either enter into a career in actuary science or pediatric orthopedics to combine my two passions, kids and sports.
My goal this volleyball season is to play hard and grow as an athlete. I hope to get some college scouts looking at me. I'd really like to get some offers to play volleyball in college. If you are looking at me please know that if given the opportunity I will be a loyal, hardworking, and positive team player. You will not be disappointed!
