Personal Statement
I first became interested in playing volleyball in 5th grade and then began playing club in sixth. I have always had to work hard to earn my spot on every team, but that has been my driving force all along; over the years, I worked my way up from a near bottom club team to the top! After watching my high school varsity team play in the Illinois State Championship my freshman year, I decided that I wanted to go all the way with this sport. I want to be on a team that wins a state championship and I want to go on to play in college! I love this sport; it's who I am, and I'm not ready to give it up yet!
My academic goals in high school are to continue making the A honor roll and to continue taking challenging coursework that will prepare me for college. In college I plan to study communications disorders so I am looking for a school that will be a great fit academically and athletically. I am organized and have been successful balancing sports and school. My compassionate nature is valuable in athletics because it enables me to form strong relationships with my teammates, supporting them and motivating them. It will be valuable in my future when working with children or adult clients. I have always set high expectations for myself and have achieved my goals through hard work, determination, and persistence. My success in sports has not come easily, but that's been my motivation all along.
