Meagan Smith '15 Recruiting Profile

As a high school junior, I already realize that working towards obtaining a college degree, which can help me on a lifelong career path, is vital to my success. At this point, I am working on narrowing down my area of study to either business or the field of criminology. As a student athlete, I am also hoping to draw on my volleyball success in high school to assist me in the opportunity to play with, and be a part of a team at the collegiate level. Being a contributing member of a team is very important to me with respect to sports, school and life skills. I enjoy having the faithful support of a "family", not only on the court, but in all aspects of my life.  The lifelong bonds that are formed between team members are crucial to the success of the individual, and especially to the group as a whole.  I see myself as a qualified team leader based on my teammates confidence to place me in the position of Captain on multiple school and club teams.  In addition to my success as a volleyball team leader, my leadership abilities are also evident thru my experiences in the many extra-curricular activities that I have been a part of throughout my middle school and high school years.  My academic achievements display that I am very determined and that I realize the value of hard work in striving to reach high academic levels in order to create a better path to my future. Through more creative courses I feel that I am not only very open-minded, but willing to listen to criticism and advice, and use this feedback to make changes to better myself as a person, both on and off the court. These characteristics help separate me from the crowd, for I strive to do all I can to get myself where I wish to be when it comes to being a student, an athlete and a contributing part of any group to which I am associated. I look forward to an enjoyable and highly successful experience at a great collegiate institution.
