Personal Statement
Ever since I was a kid, I have had a special love for sports. Growing up watching my sister and brother play sports gave me the determination to follow in their footsteps. I remember the day I told my family that I wanted to play at the collegiate level, and of course my siblings thought it was outrageous and that I had no chance because I was telling them this at 8 years old. It was that night that I decided I was going to prove them wrong.
This is just one of my characteristics that I wear on my sleeve. My determination has gotten me to where I am today and it will get me to where I hope to be someday. My leadership has also helped me through my athletic career because it reminds me to always be a role model for the surrounding people. One thing I've learned about during my athletic career is that it is very important to have a good work ethic. I learned that it is okay to be outside your comfort zone and work with different people because that is where you grow stronger. Sports have also impacted me tremendously. It is my way of escaping the real world and just being able to be myself. When I injured my shoulder my sophomore year, I was taken out of sports for a while. It was then that I realized how much I rely on sports for my mental health and it made the love for the game even stronger. Not only have I succeeded in athletics, but I also take my academics very seriously. It is my goal to graduate high school with a perfect GPA. It is very important to me to find a college that not only fits me athletically, but also academically. I believe that I have what it takes to play at a collegiate level, mentally and physically. I am excited for the journey ahead and to bring my talents, skills, and work ethic to a team.
