Personal Statement
I started playing volleyball when I was nine years old, and my mom was my coach. As the years passed, volleyball became my favorite thing to do! Every team I have been on, I have learned more about myself as a player. I love working with my teammates, having fun while we play and bonding with them on and off the court. My junior year high school season was the most influential season of my volleyball career. We lost in the sectional finals, and that loss has especially shaped me as a player. It really led me to focus on the kind of player I want to be -- for myself and for my team.
I especially appreciate it when coaches give me specific feedback. Coach Rick Butler let me switch to hitting from setting and put me on the top 18s team to help me improve my game faster. His personal interest in improving my game has increased my motivation even more. I am committed to getting stronger and jumping higher, so I work out and lift weights on my days off. I can't wait to play at the next level!
I plan to study criminology and psychology in college. I love to solve mysteries and figure out what motivates people .
My strength is staying focused and organized until I get the job done. I think staying busy and active with volleyball, and achieving my athletic goals will make me a better student. And I know I'll have fun in the process!
