I love the game of volleyball! It has already taught me many valuable life lessons like leadership skills, teamwork, and the importance of pushing one’s self for personal growth and improvement. My goal is to play volleyball at a college level. I started in 5th grade and realized early on that this was a sport I wanted to continue with as long as I can!
It has also required me to find a personal balance between academics, athletics, family and social commitments. I love the physical and emotional challenges the game presents as well as the rewards it can deliver. My main goal is to learn and better myself and team so we can be better the next match. It is a team sport – so one person can’t win a game, it is all a matter of how cohesive the team is and staying positive and encouraging each other on. My strongest attributes include being coachable, having a great attitude, and making sure I have positive energy to keep everyone connected with the same goals.
As much as I love the game of volleyball, I value my education equally. I work as hard in the classroom as I do on the court. I plan to continue on this academic path for the remainder of my high school career in an effort to open as many doors as possible for college opportunities.
When I am not playing volleyball, I often enjoy arts & crafts, piano/guitar and volunteer/service work. Through service work at school, I have volunteered at Labre Homeless Ministry in Chicago working & meeting with homeless weekly to talk, play games, and service. I have also volunteered as a coach for ASYO VIP program where I have helped/coached kids with disabilities during their soccer games allowing for a successful sports experience. I really enjoyed this and made new friends along the way! I also love to volunteer for Feed my Starving Children – an organization where we go and pack rice/potato/protein packs that get distributed throughout the world.
My volleyball career goal is to play at a very competitive level and attend a college that will ensure a solid academic education and opportunities for career placement. I have mostly played outside, but also been right side, and setter. I have solid defensive skills and can run an offense at the highest level in a fast-paced environment.
I am down to earth, passionate, caring and hope to make a difference both on the volleyball court but also in life outside of school and looking for the best academic opportunity for me allowing to continue my passion with competing at a collegiate level for volleyball.
