Throughout my years of volleyball, I've grown each season into the person I am today. I became interested in volleyball during my 7th grade year. I've always been an athletic person, however volleyball was never one of my sports until the volleyball coach at my school said I would be the perfect volleyball player. Ever since my first year, I fell in love with the sport. Every chance I had, I wanted to play. I became very interested in club volleyball, however, money and the distance to the practices was an issue for my family. Instead, I joined a competitive volleyball league through my church. Although it may not sound like a lot, church volleyball is very competitive and aggressive because it is a co-ed team. This church league has allowed me to progress my volleyball skills, while still being able to pay for it and not drive a very far distance. However, a few obstacles had stopped any further progression for about 9 months. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2013. This caused a major setback for any athletics that I wanted to do. I had to go through many procedures, a blood transfusing, and countless doctor appointments. This setback was a hard for me to handle, but I continued to work as hard as I could. and soon grew stronger than ever.
Through playing volleyball, I've learned that I am a natural leader. I've always been able do what is right and show others what to do as well. I also am able to care to my team mates like they're family and that's a very important aspect for me. I have also learned that I am a very determined person. I want to be as successful as I possibly can in both my athletics and my academics. I am very responsible when it comes to getting things done and making sure it's done the correct way. Although it seems like I am very hard on myself, I can shake off my mistakes very quickly. My goals for high school are to graduate in the top 10 of my class. I will receive an Academic Honors diploma with at least a 3.6 GPA. My goals for college are to major in athletic training and minor in massage therapy. I want to play college volleyball because to me there is no better feeling than stepping onto the court and using my body to do amazing things. I know I have the qualities to be a great student athlete in college. I'm still improving on my skills, but I know you won't be disappointed with the hard work and determination I bring to the table.
