Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Emma, and ever since I was young, playing volleyball in college has been one of my biggest dreams. From early morning workouts to late evening practices, volleyball has always been much more than a sport to me, its been a way of life.
As a freshman and sophomore I was the starting Libero for the JV team at Assumption High School, while my older sister was the starting Libero for the Varsity. I had the opportunity to play with her in the back row every game last season. The best part of having a sister so passionate about the same sport is the ability to play with and learn from someone that I love and admire so much. It was one of the best experiences of my life! However, I am also excited to have the chance to fill her shoes next year and get us back to the state tournament to finish some unfinished business!
During club season I play Libero for the Platform Elite Volleyball Club. Through all my experiences (HS and Club), I have gained excellent communication skills and a much higher volleyball IQ than most players my age. This has enabled me to make a connection easily with new club teammates as well as strengthen my relationships with previous ones. It has also allowed me to have a better understanding of my coaches expectations and what it takes to achieve excellence. All of this, coupled with my strong work ethic and fierce determination, I expect that our club team will have a sensational season!
Although I work hard on the court, I work twice as hard in the classroom. I believe that academics is the true path in achieving my goals in life. Therefore I would like to participate in an outstanding, highly selective academic program as well as an exceptional athletic one.
I am very excited to continue to compete for an opportunity to play volleyball at the next level. Through all of my volleyball experiences, as well as my involvement and success in other sports and the classroom, I feel that I have the potential to make an immediate and positive impact for a program!
