Who I am:
I grew up in Overland Park, Kansas with my parents and sister. I am attending high school and playing lots of volleyball.
What I have learned as a student-athlete:
It has taught me a variety of traits which will be helpful in pursuing my career. It has taught me how to compete, as well as the rewards of competition such as discipline, sacrifice, preparation, learning from my mistakes, and how to stay focused. Through conditioning and practices, I have had to learn how to push myself further than I thought I could. It has taught me both team and people dynamics. I have had the experience of working with people of various ethnicities, backgrounds, egos, and personalities. This has shown me how to put personal interests and diversities aside in order to work toward an objective. Overcoming adversity has been something that being a student-athlete has also taught me. I have learned that sometimes you fail. When you do, it is important to learn from your mistakes and bounce back so that you are able to be successful in your next battle. I have learned that it is important to know how to do this as a team because having finger pointers and those who make excuses will only hold you back from achieving your goals. Ultimately, I have learned that competition is fierce not only in athletics but in organizations as well.
