Cheyla Myrick '19 Recruiting Profile

Volleyball has been my passion for a long time and I would love to pursue it at the collegiate level. I am currently a junior in high school and I have played on the Seaman High School varsity volleyball team all three years. I plan on attending college and majoring in the medical field. I am a strong student enrolled in honors classes and consistently achieve good grades. I would like to attend a college or university that meets my academic and athletic goals.

On the court, I am a very supportive teammate and a hardworking individual.  I understand that everyone on the court plays a particular role, but coming together as a team is what determines wins from losses. I’m a driven individual who gives 100% all of the time and I expect the same from my teammates. I am a middle blocker for my current club team (PVA 16 Elite), but I can also hit outside or opposite. Along with being hardworking and supportive, I am also known for being talkative on the court and a very coachable player. I take criticism and what others have to say into account and try to improve every time I step onto the volleyball court. When the game is on the line I still play just as competitively as I did when the game started. From a young age, I have been told that smarts on the court are just as important as the physical aspects of the game, and it’s true. Each game I focus on having a positive attitude and shaking off the mistakes so that I can help my team to victory.
