Personal Statement
I started playing volleyball in fifth grade. As a junior, I was the setter for Barnstable High School(Division 1). We won the State Championship with a record of 23-0. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of such a successful program with 16 State Championships.
Volleyball allows me to take risks and succeed in achieving my goals. I love the game because it is team oriented; every member has an important role and responsibility. This game is all about momentum there is no room to let up even for a second. I have learned that mental and physical stamina is equally crucial when competing. In order to overcome fatigue one must commit to the team's priorities. Volleyball has taught me mental resilience; it continues to teach me to be creative and to problem solve while working through adversity.
Pat Riley once said, “When this feeling hits you, all of a sudden you understand your purpose.” I am fortunate enough to say that volleyball has given me this feeling. The realization that you've overcome an incredible challenge because of hard work and determination; all the while, sharing the desire to win with my teammates.
I would love for the opportunity to continue playing volleyball in college. I am open to many different types of schools. Although, at this time, I am considering colleges that offer Communication, Engineering and Design majors. I aspire to attend the highest academic institution.
