Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Alexie Arnold. I am about to begin playing my 7th year of volleyball and I just finished my 4rd year of club volleyball. I am an upcoming Senior at Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg Maryland. I previously attended Northern Garrett High School in Accident Maryland. As a freshman and sophomore I played on our varsity volleyball team. I currently play club volleyball for Penn Highlands Volleyball Club located in Uniontown Pennsylvania. During my freshman year at Northern Garrett I received MVP, All Area second team, All AMAC second team, and broke the schools record in kills, blocks, digs, aces and overall points scored. During my sophomore volleyball season at Mountain Ridge I received MVP, All Area first team, All AMAC first team, and recorded the largest number of kills, digs aces, and overall points scored. In 2015 I was invited to represent team Maryland at the Nokaoi Volleyball Showcase in Honolulu Hawaii. Also this past March I attended the Girls Youth National Volleyball tryout in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and was accepted as an alternate for the Girls Youth National A3 Training Program.
I am very passionate about playing volleyball. I strive to be the best that I can be and try to improve every chance that I get. My goals and aspirations are to play volleyball at the highest level possible. I would love to continue playing even after college. I hope to play on a team that works as one and is as passionate about the sport as I am. As an athlete I feel you should always stay humble, which I have always tried to do. Academics are also a very important part in my life. Throughout all my schooling I have remained on the honor roll. I have tried to take as many Honors and AP courses that are available to me. During all sports I've played I have received the "Minds in Motion" award. This year I plan to become an inducted member of the National Honor Society. In college I would love to study some sort of sports medicine, kinesiology, athletic training, or physical therapy. I also believe as an athlete it is very important to give back to your community. I help volunteer with church activities, as well as helping senior citizens with yard work. I also enjoy helping with youth volleyball matches and clinics. This year I am planning on volunteering at my local animal shelter.
In addition to volleyball I also play basketball and track. During basketball season I was awarded with MVP, and made the All Area second team, as well as All AMAC second team. During the 2015 track season I was awarded "Rookie of the Year", and was the AMAC shot put champion and came in 3rd place in discus at the "Maryland State Track and Field Championships". In the 2016 track season I was the AMAC shot put champion for the second year in a row, I was the regional champion in both shot put and discus, and placed 2nd in discus at the "Maryland State Track and Field Championships." Volleyball is my main priority, but I feel it is good to be a well-rounded athlete, to prevent being worn out and overuse injuries. I am very excited to see where volleyball takes me. I am determined to work as hard as it takes until I reach my goals and I can't wait for the journey ahead.
