My name is Shayna Hailey and I am a 2025 student-athlete at Thayer Academy. A fun fact about me is that I play 3 varsity sports but my true passion is volleyball. My love for volleyball started instantly during school tryouts my freshman year, but it wasn’t the first time I had a desire to play. There was always an instinct to play volleyball since my middle school years but I never got the opportunity to actually play until I got to high school. I pride myself on being both hard working and highly coachable. Now I am focused on constantly improving my skills because I aspire to be a strong player at the competitive college level. Therefore, I will continue to work hard and stay dedicated to achieve my dream. I want to demonstrate to others who may be in a similar situation that pushing and learning from yourself and others’ mistakes are the best ways to overcome challenges. Also, that by practicing as much as you can is how you gain self confidence and resilience to face any challenge. I want to be living proof that it's never too late to pursue a passion and achieve greatness.
I am as passionate about volleyball as I am about my academics. Therefore, I intend to use my love for math and science with the knowledge of technology to determine a major in the area of biochemistry and possibly robotics that will lead me to a rewarding career.
I am looking for a school which challenges me academically that will also allow me to play competitive college level volleyball.
