Hello I´m Alexia Mason. A little bit about me. I grew up in a small town in the thumb of Michigan with a population of about 3,000 people. I have three brothers. My graduating class has less than 80 students, and my school has about 500 kids total. I volunteer on Saturdays and through National Honors Society at the local food pantry. I also help tutor kids after school. I also help at many of my school´s volleyball camps for the younger grades. I am a very outgoing person. I love to hang out with my friends and attend as many sporting events as possible.
On the volleyball court this year I was named Captain as a junior. I have been a starting setter on the team since I was a freshman in high school and I like to think of myself like the quarterback of the team. I run the offense and make the calls in most situations. I have been told numerous times that my teammates look at me during games for support and reassurance because I have a great deal of volleyball knowledge and I stay calm during most games. I have been playing high level volleyball since I was 11 years old. This high level of play has contributed to the improvement of not only my skill set, but my overall confidence to make tough calls on the court.
In the classroom I am ranked 4th in my class. I am a part of the National Honor´s Society and the prestigious Honor's Banquet at my school. To attend the Honor´s Banquet you have to continuously be ranked in the top ten percent of your class. I am the editor of our yearbook and one of the main photographers. After college I aspire to attend medical school and become a surgical intern.
To be able to play volleyball in college is just something I can´t describe. It has just been a dream of mine for a long time and to actually get the chance to follow my dreams would be incredible since most people don´t actually get the chance to. I have a very competitive personality so I know that I will always do my best and still strive to do better.
