Personal Statement
I have been playing volleyball since I was ten and running track since I was five. Each year I ran in the AAU and USATF track meets and qualified for nationals. I plan to run high school track again this year but my primary focus will always be volleyball.
My first club season of volleyball was discouraging. I was coached to use my right hand, even though I am left handed. I didn't give up. I found a new coach and we started over. I was a year behind my teammates but I trained on and off the court daily. I still train everyday because my goal is to play volleyball at a Division 1 college.
I am grateful to play with wonderful teammates and to have the best mentors and coaches. They have taught me court skills and lessons about the personal commitment needed to follow my dream. These lessons have been helpful while playing at volleyball nationals the last three years. I can honestly say many of the best days of my life have been on a volleyball court.
Academics are also a big part of my life. I am in the CEMS (Center for Engineering, Mathematics and Science) program at my school. I work everyday to balance school and activities. I believe this program will prepare me to pursue a career in Physical Therapy and I will be ready for the challenges of college sports and classes.
I have been told I am a coachable player, a fun teammate, and I have a good attitude. I like hearing those things since I love this game and hope to play for a very long time.
