Personal Statement

I feel that I am a great prospect for any program that expects the very best from their student athlete, both on and off the court, and to represent their university/college with humility, dignity and respect.

I have learned and put into practice what my parents have taught me through the years. Hard work, self-discipline and perseverance will take you far in life. Live the adage that says "treat people the way you would want to be treated." Growing up and competing in multiple competitive sports (softball, swimming, basketball, track, and volleyball), my father always expected three things: Attitude, Intensity, and Effort." He said that mistakes would happen, but it was how I dealt with those mistakes that would separate me from the rest. There were times when I may not have had the best performances, but my dad would say, "Awesome job on the big 3." I also believe that life is about choices you make and how you deal with adversity. This applies not only to sports but everyday life as well. My faith in Jesus has been my foundation for me to fall back on, or call upon when life seems a little cruel and confusing.

My collegiate goals are to further my education providing me the opportunity to start a career and prepare for my future. I feel that working to obtain a degree while playing at the college level will provide many valuable lessons once I have graduated and moved on to the next chapter of my life. I want to have fun and experience new things and get out of my comfort zone so to speak. I want to meet people from different backgrounds while gaining perspectives on life and the world.

I would definitely say my commitment and humility is what separates me from most others. It should never be about me, but the TEAM. Volleyball is definitely a team sport and winning together should always be the team goal.

Academically my goal is always the 4.0. While my 3.62 cumulative has fallen short I continue to push towards my goal. The last several years I have played high school basketball while practicing and playing club volleyball. Going to volleyball practice at 8:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. after a three hour basketball practice can be challenging especially if a lot of homework or studying is waiting on me once I get home. That's where the self-discipline and hard work comes into play, enabling me to stay up till 1 or 2 a.m. if necessary to complete the tasks.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
