“Actions speak louder than words.”
Since I started playing volleyball at age 9, I have come to realize that the old saying is true and actions really do speak louder than words! I have been on winning teams and teams that did not win much but the most satisfying feeling is when the team gels and demonstrates an unselfish attitude…when it’s all about the team and not the individual.
I feel I am an unselfish player that is willing to do whatever is needed for the team. I go to every practice, to every “voluntary” workout, and to extra sessions with my coaches to make sure I am doing what is necessary for the team to be successful.
When a teammate needs encouragement, I am there. I don’t consider myself a loud and vocal leader, but I tend to become a critical part of the fabric that holds a team together…in good times and bad, on and off the court.
In addition to volleyball, I attend a very challenging college preparatory school, which has taught me how to manage my time in order to first make sure my grades are where they need to be and second, make enough time to dedicate to volleyball and enjoy time with my friends and family.
