My name is Juliette Riggio and I will be graduating in the class of 2016. I am a 5'8", 130 lb Libero/DS looking to make the most of my college experience by continuing to play the sport I love. Finding a school with a good business program that will set me up for success in the future is very important to me. I also desire a volleyball program with a very positive ambiance so that my team can feel like family. When choosing a program, a coaching staff that not only pushes the players to the best of their abilities but also enjoys coaching as much as I enjoy playing, is crucial.
I am an outstanding player because I bring many things to the table. Having played 9 years of club volleyball, I have a great deal of experience and I have become a very smart player. My confidence and knowledge of the game cause me to stand out from other players, even in the open division. I know how to keep my focus throughout the whole match and execute at the end. I believe that the most important characteristics to have are confidence and positivity, which I have trained myself to have throughout the years. Another thing I bring to the table is diversity, for example, this club season I have been playing all the way around as an outside hitter in the open division. I may not be very tall, but I make up for it by the smart shots I make. I also have the ability to set and I did so at various times because my setter had many injuries this club season. If it weren't for my leadership skills, I would not be where I am today. As floor captain, the other players on my club team always look to me for guidance and motivation. Whenever anyone is down, I am always there to pick them up and give them confidence. I am blessed to have enough positivity to go around. Lastly, my strong work ethic makes the physical part of the game so much easier. I guarantee that I will be the first to dive to the ground to save a ball and to be the first to finish a sprint. There is no doubt that I will give 110% even if it causes me to get an injury.
My hard work also shows through academics. Many classes that I have participated in have been Honors or AP.I have been awarded First or Second Honors every semester as well as the Cardinal Straight A program. Throughout high school I have played other sports such as soccer, lacrosse, and cheerleading. Fortunately, I was picked to be captain for soccer and lacrosse which built my leadership skills even more. Some clubs I am involved in include Generation Life and POSSE. One of my favorite things to do is service. I volunteer at the Magic House and Good Shepherd School for Children in my free time. All of the things I participate in have built my character so much and make me a great candidate for college volleyball!
