Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations are to attend a college that would allow me to continue to develop my skills in volleyball while allowing me to further my education by working toward a bachelor's degree.
What makes me a good candidate for a team is that I understand that volleyball is a team sport which means everyone must work in unison to achieve the common goals. I work well with my teammates and I am able to accept their praise and criticism in the spirit in which it is given, which is to help me become a better player.
I am also a motivator and an excellent listener knowing that my coach understands the game and will make decisions that are in the best interest of the team as well as me. I am an athlete. I welcome competition on and off the floor. I believe when I set foot on the court, the goal is to do my best to contribute to the victory of the team.
I understand my position on the court and believe I can dominate at my position while continuing to learn the game and grow at a collegiate level. I have played left side hitter, but I play left side I can play right side just as well. On my club team, I play middle where I have excelled at blocking and being an intimidating force upfront.
I have a solid standard serve that can go deep or short on the court. I continue to work on my serve in order to vary pace, spin and float of the ball.
What makes me a good candidate for a team is that I always have a positive attitude on they court and on the bench. I always support my teammates when they are feeling low and encourage them to shake off their mistakes. When I see my teammates feeling discouraged, I remind them we must play until the last point. and learn from our victories as well as defeats.
As for academics, I am taking A.P. US History and A.P. English III. As a junior in high school I am becoming more responsible for managing my school work and travel volleyball which are skills I will need to be successful in college. As a student, I believe that grades are very important, but I also believe developing critical thinking skills will help me develop at a citizen,
I am a very kind and funny person. I enjoy my teammates and cherish the hard work and friendships we make over time. I have a quiet demeanor, but embrace new opportunities with confidence and calmness. I am coachable and ready to develop and progress at the sport of volleyball at the collegiate level.
Lastly, I am currently taking private lessons with volleyball coach Patrick Nicholas, a former ollege coach, coach of USA National Teams, and head coach of USA High Performance.
(For video purposes: I am #16 for the Carolina Union Volleyball Club playing middle and right side.)
