Personal Statement
Being a student athlete is something I take very seriously and work hard at every day. Student is the first word in that title, and to me the most important.
I have a passion for being a strong student. I am currently #1 in my class of 430+ students. My GPA is 4.24 on a 4.0 scale. I push my self everyday to improve in the classroom and be the best I can be. I know if I am not a strong student, there is no way I can be a strong athlete. While I have strong confidence in my academics, I am equally confident in my athletic ability.
My work ethic continues on to the volleyball court. I strive every day to be the hardest worker on my team, push myself and others to be better each day than the day before, and outwork any other team we play. We may not win every match, but we can always strive to out work them. I believe hard work and repetition on the practice court equates to better play in our matches. I help to lead my team by example. I learned a great deal from being a starter on my varsity team as a freshman. It taught me humility, how to lead up and how to be a leader among leaders. Through my training, I have always been complimented on being the most coachable. I want to learn more every day and further develop my skills on and off the court.
I read a quote from Vince Lombardi once, "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up". All athletes have bad plays, bad games, bad nights. Your character will determine how you react to those days....I have learned time and time again the match isn't over until the last point scored. I always fight until the last point is scored. That determination is what sets me aside and what helps motivate me and my team to out play and out last others.
