Personal Statement
I want to attend a college that allows me to play the game I love at a high level and complete my degree. I believe I am a very competitive person and a positive leader on the court that brings a lot of energy. I am a team first player and I believe I showed that last year. I had started in the front row my freshman year and going in to last year, my sophomore season, my plan was to work all summer on hitting and back row. At the beginning of that summer our setter moved. Coach came to me and asked that I learn to set in a 6-2 offense. I have never set in my life. I spent the entire summer in the gym learning to set. It challenged me mentally like nothing ever has before. I am proud I could step up for the team. I am not a setter. I am a hitter and I know that is my future position and I knew all the time spent setting was going to take away from my time hitting, but I am proud of the fact that I took on the challenge and the fact that I could step up for my team.
I received the "best work ethic" award from my team last year, an award that is voted on by my peers and I am very proud of that. I work hard at whatever I invest my time in. I am committed to my academics, sports, acting, but volleyball is my passion. I think I can bring positive energy to the court every time I step on it. I want to lead my team and be the spark that ignites everyone else.
