Union City High School
I bravely take the time to picture whom I am. I’m the first girl and the youngest of my family. I’m from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic as so are my parent. I came to this country four years ago, and I left with my father and siblings. My plans for college is to become a successful person in the laws fields. My father and my siblings have worked so hard to make me happy. Now, it's my turn to pay them back. I can show them that I can be a better and a successful person. I’m thankful to my father and my siblings because they allow me to be the first generation going to college to have a better education.
One of the first things that I did when I came to this country was to be part of the MCJROTC that is the Marine Corp Junior program. I started to learn how to help others and contribute to my community is a positive impact. By helping others, you can see that we can achieve positive things. For example, at St. Anthony’s Church, Union City, NJ - I served food to homeless families for holidays, collected coats to distribute to homeless families, distributed turkeys and toys for families during the holidays, helped raise funds for American Cancer Society and, participated in the Lincoln Tunnel Marathon to raise money for firefighters who lost their lives on September 11th. It’s an incredible feeling when you become part of something to make this world a better place. My plans for college are to study laws and protect others, also to understand more about the law world. To get a GPA of 3.05 and, I will continue getting good grades to get a better GPA. Thank you for your time.
