I am very eager to begin this new chapter of my life in college and am excited for volleyball to be an important part of these next few years.
I love every part of the sport; the mental and physical aspects as well as just watching good competitive volleyball fires me up! I enjoy challenging myself and trying to be the best player possible. As an MVP and now team captain, I know I have to set the example for those around me, both on and off the court, while pushing myself to be better as well. My level-headedness and my focus are some of my strengths that help me play calm and collected in chaotic situations and my positive demeanor has served me, as well as my teammates, incredibly well in key moments of the game. Not only, can my leadership be seen on the court and in the hallways at my high school, but also in my club gym.
I play club volleyball, but also coach a 14’s team comprised of upcoming freshman on the days when I am not practicing! This commitment is by far one of the meaningful experiences that I have ever had. The opportunity to teach volleyball skills to aspiring young athletes and to be a positive role model in the lives of young girls, is something which I never thought was possible. To be both a coach and an athlete gives me a very valuable and unique perspective of the game, for I know the thought process behind coaching and the pressures of playing.
Alongside my athletics, my academics are incredibly important to me; my love for learning plays a large part in my college decision. I am passionate about English, History, Sociology and Photography. As a high school student, I am very dedicated to my overall education, but very interested and invested in my humanity-based courses.
