Personal Statement
Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about my aspirations and my goals for my upcoming future. Education is the ultimate goal in my life right now, yet, I have the perfect opportunity to play the sport that I most love and can use my ability to play the game of volleyball to assist me in paying for my education. Currently I am attending a college-preparatory high school and I have maintained a 4.1+ GPA every semester since my freshman year. I have had the privilege to excel in both varsity volleyball and basketball. In college I will continue to excel on the court and in the classroom because I have learned what it takes to apply time management and I know how to balance the student-athlete life.
I have had the luxury of being surrounded by very good coaching in both basketball and volleyball. In basketball I was a 5’11” guard. Being a guard you have to be able to lead the team, run the team, help the team, and keep the team performing at its highest level. I have taken the lessons learned from being a guard into my game of volleyball. I lead my girls on my TEAM BOSS Volleyball club. I lead by example. I lead by inspiration. I lead by knowledge and most importantly I lead by being a team player. I have been trained as a primary passer and a swing hitter off the pass. I can block all three positions depending on where the help is needed. I also play all the way around and am confident playing defense in the left back or middle back position. I work well with others and push everyone to leave everything on the court with no regrets. When I step on the court, through my leadership, the level of my teammate’s play increases.
I do not believe in “Failure” because I have been taught that “failure becomes a learning experience”.
I look forward to my future and will attack my challenges with school and volleyball just as I would if I were swinging for match point.
