I’ve always loved competing and over the years have tried and enjoyed many different sports. From
soccer to swimming, basketball, volleyball and track to downhill skiing and scuba diving I love being
active almost as much as I love being part of a team! Throughout my middle school years, one sport in
particular really started standing out in a new way. I was being challenged and pushed to try a new
position as a setter. I began looking forward to practices as much as games because I was eager for the
opportunity to get my hands back on a volleyball, to perfect my passes, to become proficient at more
challenging sets and to master a serve that’s not only strong but a challenge for my opponents to return.
Then, just before AAU Junior Nationals of my 8 th grade year I felt a strong desire to find a way to
continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level.
On the volleyball court, I am a great defensive player who follows the ball really well and who loves the
challenge of digging hard balls. As a setter with strong hands, I am not only quick on my feet but I am
also really good at getting balls out of the net and making them playable. I am a very coachable player
who values feedback, instruction and who works hard to make adjustments and perfect the skills I have
been taught.
When it comes to volleyball there is always more to learn and skills to sharpen. Between high school
and club volleyball seasons to privates and strength training, volleyball is more than just a season and I
truly enjoy being able to work at it all year long. Hard work for me though doesn’t just stop on the
court. I am a dedicated student in the classroom who is determined to maintain a high GPA while
juggling honors classes, clubs and volunteer work.
I am excited to attend a college where I will continue to be challenged both on and off the court. At the
present time I am excited for the opportunity to play collegiate volleyball at the highest level possible
whether that be at a large university or small college. While I have yet to settle on a major or a chosen
career path the one thing I know for sure is I am eager to be part of a team and I can promise you I will
be one of the hardest working players on the roster if given the opportunity.
