Personal Statement
I hope to succeed academically and continue to be a strong leader, in addition to playing volleyball to my fullest potential. Upon entering high school, I received a leadership scholarship, was chosen as a captain of my freshman team, and now I'm in my third year of all honors classes. Until my freshman year, I was a serious multi-sport athlete competing on top club teams in two sports and the top basketball team at my school. My various coaches have said that I am coachable and quick with good court vision and a very high game IQ, as well as a consistent player that gives 100% at practices and games.
I believe I am an excellent candidate for your team because I am a focused player and am very respectful of all of my teammates and coaches. At home I am the youngest of five, the only girl, and have been involved in athletics since I could walk. My siblings and I are close and our own rule is that no drama is allowed. Four older brothers increased my competitiveness and sometimes made me wish that I was an only child. My parents often told me I did everything early because I refused to be left behind. To this day I am much the same. For many years I was the shortest in my class and I have worked hard to get ahead. I believe my consistency and stamina stand out. I am tenacious with sports with an excellent game IQ and I work well with others on my team. I listen well, have knowledge of multiple defensive strategies and I am willing to prepare and learn.
One of the things that I believe sets me apart from other recruits is the strong core values my family helped develop in me. They have encouraged me to treat others as I wish to be treated and emphasized the importance of integrity as well as honesty. Another important characteristic I feel that I bring to a team is a positive attitude and enthusiasm. I have also found that a team can come to be like a family with a strength and desire to succeed.
