Ever since 2nd grade, I have been training to become a collegiate basketball player. I started playing volleyball for fun in 7th grade to be with my friends. This season, I fully realized my enjoyment for volleyball after improving my volleyball IQ. On the court, I now feel confident and am ready to achieve higher goals. So I tried out for a JO Club team for the first time and earned a spot on a 17's American team who are gracious enough to work around my basketball schedule. During club season, I am also going to be playing AAU basketball with a team that I'm loyally dedicated to since my 8th grade year. Because I am a team captain, I couldn't let them or my coach down.
I have done some soul searching in these past couple of months and really thought about my future options. Volleyball is a great opportunity for a team sport, which is something that I respect no matter what kind of team I'm on. I also like making new friends at games and tournaments. Volleyball involves high energy, one of the elements that I demonstrate both on and off the court. I have played every position in the front row, making me a versatile player. I am willing to do what's best for the team's success, even if that means playing my least favorite position or cheering on the team from the sidelines. I will be the first teammate to stand and high-five a player when she comes off the court. Taking all of this into consideration, I would really like to play volleyball in college.
I am ready for college academically as well. My sophomore year, I took my first College Credit Plus courses (English 1101 and 1201). I acquired an A in both courses. This year, I have taken Psychology and Political Studies. I achieved an A and B+ respectively. I am currently enrolled in Sociology and Business Math for the second semester this year. I know what college will be somewhat like after these classes I have taken. I manage my time effectively trying to do all my work ahead of time before the actual due date.
I'm very excited to continue my academics as well as my volleyball career in college. Thank you for reading this, and I hope to hear from you!
