Olivia Baumhoer '16 Recruiting Profile

I have a passion for the sport of volleyball. It is my goal to continue to play the sport I love at the collegiate level.

While I have been active in athletics since an early age, I first played volleyball in seventh grade and knew then it was the sport I wanted to pursue.  I have been playing club volleyball for 2 1/2 years.  For the 2013 and 2014 seasons, I played on my club's number one team.  For the 2015 season, I am playing for Cleveland Volleyball Company on their number one 17 team.  I have the ability to play across the front row and adapt to a team's needs.  I play outside hitter for my high school team and middle blocker and opposite side hitter for my club team.  I feel that I am very coachable and utilize my coaches' feedback to improve my game and play better for my team.

I am an extremely hard worker and goal setter.  As a freshman, I played on my high school's freshman team.  I set the goal to make the varsity team as a sophomore and worked hard both on and off the court on my skills and conditioning.  Not only did I make the varsity team, but I became a starter and our team earned a spot in the Ohio Division 1 State Final Four, for the first time in school history.

I continue to work both on the court and in the gym to improve my skills.  I know that continuous improvement is important and I want to always look to do what I can do to make myself a better player for my team.

Academics are also important to me as I look for a college fit.  I push myself academically as well and I am currently taking several honors courses and AP courses.

Outside of volleyball, I am a freshman/4th/5th grade mentor and I am working on the stage crew for our spring musical.  I am also actively involved in my church's high school youth group and service.

I look forward to where this journey will take me and the potential opportunities ahead of me.
