Personal Statement
My name is Ashton Halper and I am a senior at Enid High School. With my father being in the military and now retired, it gave me a rare opportunity to travel and see the world at a young age. Thanks to those unique circumstances I've learned many life lessons along the way. I feel I am better able to adapt to new challenges and surroundings than many teenagers my age.
After arriving in Enid, Oklahoma 8 years ago from an overseas tour I fell in love with volleyball. My parents and I have had to sacrifice a lot in order for me to pursue my dreams of playing club volleyball at a higher level. We have had to travel hundreds of miles weekly just to practice and play on competitive teams in Oklahoma City. I began varsity level play as a sophomore. That year my team won Academic State Championship for 6A volleyball in Oklahoma. I started for my team as a junior; as a senior I was appointed captain of my high school team. With a lot of hard work I believe I will lead my team to the state tournament this year.
Along with playing volleyball I maintain a 3.8 GPA and work a part time job. I pride myself on several things: Never being out hustled, staying calm during pressure situations, and beating whatever adversity life throws at me. I am looking for a team and school that will bring out the best in my academic and athletic abilities. While my parents would prefer a school in the midwest, I am open to all options across the states.
