Autumn Wilson '18 Recruiting Profile

I've played volleyball for about five years now, and in those short five years I have felt what it's like to really care about a team. Before volleyball, all I cared about was when I was playing next and who was bringing a snack for after the game. As I'm sure you can guess, five years ago, I was happy playing rec league soccer. While soccer was fun and entertaining, I wasn't going anywhere with that. Making the switch to volleyball started out rough, due to the fact that most people had been playing since they were in fourth grade and, hilariously, the only experience I had was getting hit in the head a couple times with the volleyball in PE. But there's something about a challenge that always excites me and makes me want to succeed. Volleyball happened to be that perfect challenge. I'm not going to lie, that first year was one of the most difficult things I've had to endure. I didn't even know how to serve over the net, and my approach was basically a shuffle and a jump, but somehow I made both my middle school team and a club team that year. Fortunately, I happen to be a very fast learner. Flash ahead to now, I recently finished my third year playing for my high school volleyball team, and had a great time representing Sam Barlow at the state playoffs. In addition, I am playing on the Adidas 18 Power team for club ball. As the end of high school is fast approaching, college is becoming more and more of a reality and less like a distant daydream. Playing at a collegiate level has always been a dream of mine, and I would love to continue doing the sport I am so passionate about.
