Personal Statement
Ever since I started playing volleyball in fifth grade, I knew I wanted to pursue this as my passion. Before that, I played soccer, swimming, gymnastics, and dance, but nothing ever compared to the way I felt when I hit my first volleyball. Since I was 10 years old, I played competitively and have accomplished many goals.
My first goal in every season is to establish and play a stronger and smarter than previous seasons and look for ways to improve. I became a setter for two of the three years and was acknowledged for Most Valuable Player my second year. I was also captain, as we ran a 5-1 for the entire club season for my 8th-grade year. During my 9th grade year, I was still a setter and my high school coach noticed that not only was I getting taller but that I could hit with such power, that she suggested that I try out next season as a middle hitter. The next club season, I tried out and became a middle hitter. As I grew in my new position, I felt I had more control in the game, became the starting hitter, and loved the energy from the team as my attacks turned into kills. Another accomplishment that I received was Most Valuable Player from this team, as their middle hitter/blocker. In my Junior year, I played as a middle for high school 6A and an outside hitter for the club. I achieved the reward of best Offensive Player from my team for the club. Currently a senior and a starting middle for high school, and we are at 7-1 in our 6A conference. As I continue to progress in my skills, my personal goals are to keep my GPA at a high level with a goal of becoming a science education teacher. I would like to teach Biology to high school students and also coach club volleyball in the future. I would be honored to be a part of a collegiate volleyball team. I am not only strong on the court but passionate, caring, honest, a leader and encouraging to all, off the court as well. I think I would be a great asset to your college program and would appreciate the opportunity to play for you!
