I have been playing volleyball since 7th grade, and I have made it my goal to better my skills each year. I find my strong work ethic and dedication to the game has allowed for this to happen. My past 3 high school seasons were life changing experiences. As a 3-year starter for our high school's varsity team, I am proud that I helped take my team to the semi-finals in our region and the quarter finals in our state. We had our best season in over 15 years when I was a starting freshman. We upset three teams as we entered the regional championships, including the #1 team in our section (beating them 3-0) to advance to the state play-offs. I was the overall leading blocker in each of the games while scoring the winning kill in the winning set. We were 14 and 7 overall and were the #8 team in the state of Pennsylvania. This year I was recognized as an All Section Player, as a sophomore, and I helped lead my team to win the section championship! As a junior I made the first team all-section, first team all-region, and all-state teams.
Being a 5'11" Middle Hitter has been a difficult task at times. However, I do whatever it takes to get the job done, as well as, play much bigger than I truly am. This year for club season I was successful in switching to an outside/opposite hitter. I was a 6 rotation hitter playing at a premier level. Developing all of these skills gives me the confidence to be a productive front row utility player. My collegiate goal is to play volleyball while successfully acquiring an undergraduate degree in the area of biology. I would be a great addition to any team due to my positive attitude and continual support of my fellow players during practices and games. Coaches always compliment me on, not only my skills, but how they love my enthusiasm and continual encouragement for all. Along with my positive attitude I am proud that I have a very high GPA and am able to play volleyball at an open level. I know I would be an asset to most college teams because of my attitude, academics, drive and dedication. I look forward to taking full advantage of my college experience and to become the best student-athlete I can.
Warm regards,
Alexa
