Personal Statement
At the age of 12, I attended my first volleyball workshop through my local YMCA in my community. It was meant to be an 8 week camp to keep me involved and active during summer break. By the end of the program, I had fallen in love with the sport. I had finally found a sport that appreciated my towering height and it empowered me to be more confident. I could finally stand taller. That fall I joined my middle school team playing middle hitter/blocker and by 9th grade, I was playing varsity. I was lucky to have natural, raw talent at the start but as I’ve grown as an athlete I’m dedicated to constantly improving myself with hard work. I have since moved to an outside hitter that has challenged me to be a better player who can dominate on the court. My personal best this season has been 21 kills in one game. I was named to All-District Class AA Volleyball teams in my local area.
Off the court I have been a member of the executive board for my class the past 3 years, participate in key club and held positions on student council. I am in advanced and honor classes. I also work part time at a local business. I hope to attend college where I can obtain my bachelors degree in science-based field and eventually go on to become an orthodontist.
