Celia Tonos '14 Recruiting Profile

Here in Puerto Rico I have always been the tallest one. Since I was a little girl, other girls from the class didn’t accept me because of my height and they just saw me as one of the guys. I have always been an active person so all I used to do was run and play sports. One day I started playing volleyball, and it just became my passion. Volleyball made me more confident of myself and I give my heart and soul to the game. Volleyball not only helped me with my confidence but it also helped with my grades; why you ask? Well in my school you have to keep your grades up to play on the team and since I love playing I was not going to let my grades down. After that I knew that I want to play volleyball in college. I think I would be an excellent addition to the team.

One of my dream goals is to study in the states and go as far as I can. My greatest influence in this are my sisters, they both finished High School in P.R and then left to the states. Both of my sisters are getting to their goals and I want to be there one day and I know I have the potential and passion to get there.

Another situation that changed my life was when I found what my dream career was going to be. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. I was sleeping and I heard a cream from my dad, when I got to the room I found that my dad had his shoulder dislocated. My mother was freaking out and my dad was yelling that he didn’t want to go to the hospital. My dad was in a lot of pain, I took his arm pulled it down and up and his bone went back to his place. From that day I was sure I wanted to study medicine physical therapist.
