Passion, teamwork, focus, sacrifice, devotion, and leadership: each of the aforementioned qualities are positive attributes I have acquired as a result of my athletic journey. I began playing basketball at a young age and quickly learned that sacrifice and hard work were essential components needed to excel in that sport. After realizing these skills could be utilized in other areas of my life, I began applying them to the classroom setting. My current GPA of 5.225 has been obtained through personal sacrifice, long nights, and perseverance; the same skills I cultivated while playing sports. My base high school, Carolina Forest, is the 10th largest high school in South Carolina. There are approximately 500 students in my graduating class. In a school of this size, it is vital that I set myself apart from other students in order to reach my academic and athletic goals. One way I have accomplished this is through rigorous training on the court and in the classroom. This intense focus, devotion, and determination can immediately make a positive impact on your team. As a collegiate athlete I will continue to work hard both on the court and in the classroom to ensure the success of my team.
I am very goal oriented and one primary goal that I have established for myself is to play a collegiate sport. Not only do I enjoy playing sports, but I take pride in teaching younger players the game and the leadership qualities needed to be a successful student-athlete. I know that many younger students value the opinion of collegiate athletes. Becoming a collegiate athlete could provide me with numerous opportunities to positively impact at-risk youth in your community. I have always prided myself on being a positive role model. Teaching younger players the game while also teaching life lessons is what athletics is all about; it is about passing along the passion of the sport and the determination needed to succeed in both the game and in life.
