Sophia De Santiago '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sophia De Santiago, and I am a Libero/DS for the class of 2018.  I have played volleyball for 10 years and I can still say that I truly love the sport and continue loving it more everyday.  It has always been my dream to play volleyball at a collegiate level.  I have always set goals for myself whether they are big or small and I push forward until I have reached them.  When I am on the court, I am always positive and encouraging to my teammates and I am always pushing them and myself to get better.  I am a hard working leader that my coaches and my teammates can trust and I believe I would be a perfect fit for any team as I hold myself to the highest standards on and off the court.  

I am very focused on my academics as well (3.8 GPA).  I challenge myself to maintain good grades and achieve academic excellence with a goal of graduating in the top 10% of my class. I've learned to balance a busy schedule of class work and studying, high school volleyball, club volleyball, a part time job, community service, church and my personal life with family and friends.

Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and I have put all my trust and faith in Him.  My favorite bible verse is "I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength"(Philippians 4:13).  I have beat the odds by overcoming two huge obstacles in my life and nothing will stop me from fulfilling my dream of playing college volleyball while pursuing a career in pharmacy.
