Personal Statement

I am a dynamic volleyball athlete.  I am skilled at all aspects of volleyball.  I am a consistent server, an accurate setter and my hits are getting stronger everyday.  One thing that makes me stand out is that I am coachable and I will look my coach straight in the eye to show them that I am acknowledging what they are trying to coach me.  When my coach tells me how to improve myself, I will heed her or his advice, no matter what it is.  I am an ambitious player who listens, comprehends instruction and when I am shown a new technique I thrive to master it.  In the 7th grade, I tried out for volleyball for the first time, and made the 7A team, an experience that helped build my confidence.  When I played tennis in the 8th grade I caught on quickly.  The varsity coach was so impressed he insisted I play on the varsity team when I entered high school.  These are a couple of examples of how I learn quickly because I am coachable.  Since my favorite sport is volleyball, I want to learn all there is in the volleyball experience.  I have more confidence in myself now because of my past experiences playing sports.

I am also an excellent academic student.  I began advanced classes in the 7th grade, continued in the 8th grade, and I am currently still in all advanced classes as a freshman.  I excel in all my classes.  It is a hard task, but with my parents pushing me, it seems the classes are not as bad.  As for a college degree, I am seeking a degree in the medical field, medical engineering or possibly criminal justice.

I have a warm personality that allows me to get along with anyone.  I have a diverse group of friends that I am comfortable spending time with off  and on the court.   I enjoy expanding my horizons with that new sense of self confidence I developed over the years.  Teamwork is the most significant asset to any successful program.  I am positive that I will make a huge contribution to your volleyball program.  I have a generous nature that allows me to be that great team player.

Due to location, I prefer to stay in the state of Texas to continue my education and to play volleyball because I would like to stay close to my family.  However, if an opportunity comes to receive a full ride scholarship out of state, I may reconsider.  Although my mom might cry because she wants to see all my games.

If a college considers me as a student-athlete through this generous program, I guarantee coaches and facilitators will not be disappointed.  I will also be the happiest person in the world.  Through tennis and academics I have prepared myself for success in case I can not achieve my dream of a volleyball scholarship.  In other words, with my determination, teamwork, my positive qualities, and the hard work I want to put into any volleyball program, I know I can be a great asset to your volleyball program.  I look forward to my future, academically and athletically, and if you give me the time to consider me for your program, I am confident you will not be disappointed or be a waste of your time.

  • 2017 Copperas Cove High Spring League (I play on two mixed teams composed of 9-12 graders. Again, it's an event that my high school volleyball holds every spring from March-May.)
  • We play only on Monday nights this year. It's a fun event that helps raise money for our upcoming volleyball season.
  • 2017 Texas Eclipse 16 National Under Armour (16U)
  • Captain, I run a 6-2 and a 5-1. I play back row setter 70% of most games.
  • 2016 Copperas Cove High Spring League Club (I play on two 9-12 mixed teams for fun competition.)
  • Copperas Cove High School has Spring League Volleyball Club every Spring for 3-12th graders. I have participated for 3 years. I also assist with another teammate coaching 3-4 graders. They are a blast to work with, and coaching the young girls is a new & fun experience for me. I am a role model already to a few girls. Wednesday nights I am actually playing on 2 different volleyball teams. The teams are mixed up between 9-12 graders. All the volleyball coaches are there watching carefully plays for the upcoming volleyball season. I participate anytime when volleyball is involved.
  • 2016 Texas Eclipse 15 Cove (15U)
  • Captain, and I was the only setter the team had. I set solo in a 5-1 rotation.
  • 2015 Austin Juniors

  • Camp/Event
  • Exact Volleyball Camp
  • 7/22/17 to 7/22/17
  • During this camp I worked with many different college coaches. From each one I learned at least 3 new things from all of them. This was the first Exact camp held in Arlington and I am very happy to have been apart of it. This camp was very resourceful, and with these new skills I will use them during my club volleyball season playing along with Heroes.

  • Tryouts for Copperas Cove High School
  • 8/01/16 to 8/03/16
  • I am trying out to be the starting setter for the JV A team. There may be a chance to play on varsity but I might not get much playing time. I did get the starting setter my sophomore year on JV A. We ran a 6-2 all season with me as the back row setter.
  • Camp/Event
  • Tryouts for Texas Eclipse 16
  • 7/17/16 to 7/20/16
  • I'd like to play for Texas Eclipse again my sophomore year because I enjoyed playing for them my freshman year. I tried out for a setting position on a Texas Eclipse club team, I worked very hard, and the best news is that I made the top 16U Under Armour Texas Eclipse team as a starting setter. It is the 16/17 Elite National team (sounds fancy and tough), and I couldn't be happier! I played as one of the setters for Texas Eclipse 16 Under Armour. When we ran a 6-2, I played the back row setter, and also ran many 5-1 games.
  • Camp/Event
  • Junior Day Volleyball Skills Camp
  • 6/26/16 to 6/26/16
  • I am attending the afternoon session. On my evaluation, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, these are my scores. Consistent sets: 8. Foot Speed: 9. Communication: 8. Volleyball Knowledge: 9. Coach-able: 10. There weren't any notes added. But I feel and many coaches have told me this, I need to work on communication and leadership. I am trying harder and harder everyday to become a better communicator and leader. Leadership is a new experience for me.
  • Camp/Event
  • D1 College Camp
  • 6/05/16 to 6/07/16
  • The DI camp was quite definitely an experience. It was similar to my DII and DIII camp. Coaches there gave me a lot of helpful feedback. I learned more different techniques as a setter and as a defensive player. I love the way how the communication between all of us connected in a way that my own high school doesn't. I enjoyed myself there and hopefully I will attend more camps in the future.
  • Camp/Event
  • DII and DIII Camp
  • 5/21/16 to 5/22/16
  • Learning new setting skills, different blocking techniques, and meeting new people! After Saturday's (5/21/2016) camp session, I received much positive feedback from most of the College Coaches that were there. Their feedback made me feel much more hopeful and appreciative about my future. Sunday's camp was longer. Worked on more skills, scrimmaged, and listened to great some advice from the coaches about their athletic and academic expectations for their programs. Sunday was a long and informative day.

  • I was asked and honored to move up to play with Texas Eclipse 16 Cove just yesterday, 3 days before heading back up to Dallas. So it was a very short notice. I will be playing with 16 year olds. I am #9, and I am sure I will be setting for their team. So, I am on my way to play at Lonestar for a second weekend in a row. I am nervous because I haven't played with a higher age group before, and I will have to learn their new rotations. We begin playing on Friday the 22nd. Texas Eclipse Cove 16's are scheduled to play on Court 40 at 3:30 pm. We work at 2:30, play at 3:30, work at 4:30, and play at 530 & 7:30 in the evening. It is the end of our Friday afternoon/evening games. I played all around as the solo setter. We came out on top winning all 3 matches or 6 sets in our pool. Playing, learning, and improving with an older age group is teaching me how to work with a team that plays at a faster pace, and that I was able to keep up, and enjoy the whole experience the same time. It was a challenge and more experience for me. On Saturday, 4/23/2016, Texas Eclipse 16's play at 3, 5, and 7pm on Court 106. We work at 8pm. I am not sure what rank the 16's entered Lonestar was, but I can always find out soon. On Saturday, we will be in a tougher pool, and play tougher teams. It is the end of Saturday night. Texas Eclipse 16's won 2 out of our 3 matches. We did lose one but it's funny because we lost to another Texas Eclipse team. We ended in second place and we made it to the gold bracket for Sunday in our pool. We play at 10am on Court 45 on Sunday, 4/24/2016. If we win, we will continue, if not, we are finished and heading home. We lost our 10 am match this morning in 3 sets. We are finished with the tournament after that. Overall, we placed 5th in our division, 16 Select. I had a great time, tried my best, and need to work harder on new skills coaches are teaching me. I am just not use to them, but I do have an upcoming tournament and 2 skills camps this summer to practice and play harder!

  • More volleyball training for the volleyball players where the coaches are watching carefully for the upcoming volleyball season. The high school have the camps every year. Monday nights, a volleyball teammate and myself coach the 3rd-4th graders from 6-830pm. On Wednesday nights, I play on 2 volleyball teams from 6-9pm. I may get a break in between games, or sometimes I don't. One of my teams I play with a second setter, but most of the time I play solo setter. It is very exhausting, however, the more I play, the more I learn.

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsI received an academic award during my freshman volleyball season for maintaining a 3.0 or above throughout the season. During my freshman year, I made the A/B honor roll while taking all advanced classes.
  • ActivitiesCurrently, I am not in any clubs because playing sports, volleyball club and homework seem to consume any time I have. I do plan on joining the National Honor Society my junior and senior years. I also plan on taking a few clubs my sophomore year. I went on campus tours to Baylor University, St. Mary's University, Angelo State, Tarleton State, University of Dallas, Texas Wesleyan, Huston Tillotson, Jarvis Christian College, and Cedar Valley. I enjoyed every single visit I took. They were all beautiful Campus's. On August 1, 2017, I will take on my high school tryouts. Hoping I will make varsity, I am going to try my best and work very hard, trying to beat out the other setters trying out. I currently help my mom, who is an FRG Leader for my Dad's unit. He is the Commander of Charlie Company 15th BSB, 1st Cav. on Ft. Hood, TX. Whatever she needs help with, I have been helping her.
