Personal Statement
Growing up, I participated in different sports to discover what I truly enjoyed the most. Through the years, I played volleyball, basketball, ran track and cross country, while also doing gymnastics and dance. Later, I even tried being an equestrian. As I approached middle school, I made the decision to drop everything except team sports. My vertical jump can be contributed to the years I spent in gymnastics, however. My approach jump is currently 9'6." Last summer, I worked out several days a week with Steadfast, a facility in Lewisville, Texas to improve speed, agility and vertical jump. I will continue that throughout the spring and summer next year. Being part of a team is what I love most about team sports. I learned about team work during my time at Sky Ranch, a Christian outdoor camp that my sister and I attended every summer.
As a freshman and sophomore, I played six rotations, setter and opposite. In Club volleyball, last season, I played six rotation outside hitter. As a junior in high school, I played setter on varsity. Our team was ranked as high as 10th in the nation and third in the state of Texas in 6A. In club season, this year, I will be playing up with the top 18's team with Frisco Flyers. I am playing up so that I can play beach sooner in the spring and summer. I expect to play setter and opposite during club.
Playing volleyball in college has been my dream and my number one goal for years. I believe I will be an asset to any team as I am versatile and can play multiple positions. I also work hard in the classroom. I look forward to talk with with you.
