Mechelle Wilson-McCombs '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Mechelle Wilson-McCombs and I am a 5'8 right-handed pin hitter at North Crowley High School. I am 18 years old, and I am in the graduating class of 2021.  I have been playing volleyball for 7 years. When I first started playing I just knew I wasn't the right person for volleyball and I was hard on myself until the next year. Something about me and the game just clicked! The love and passion grew and I knew this was something I wanted to do for a lifetime.

 I am looking for a college that will fit me but also support and further my academic goals while providing me the opportunity to continue competitive volleyball.

As a freshman in high school I was put on junior varsity as a middle blocker and mid-season I moved my way up to varsity as a middle blocker. The next season as a sophomore my position was changed to outside hitter and I was placed on junior varsity all over again to perfect my craft as an outside hitter.  At the time, I didn't understand my coach's motive and the situation made me question my ability. I had to go deep down and remind myself of the passion I have no matter what team I was on or the position I was playing. The following year as a junior, after working hard all summer, I had improved tremendously and I was placed back on varsity as a starting and all around outside hitter. I had a great year! I received 2nd team 6A  all-district and was recognized academically as well.

I believe I would make a great contribution to any team because of my coachable attitude, my desire to learn and grow, my personal drive, and also my ability to make smart decisions on the court.
