Personal Statement
You're looking for me. I am well rounded on the court and off. I have a high ceiling and the drive to reach it.
I started my volleyball journey early in 2015. My mom and dad made me play volleyball at the YMCA. I was not very excited about the idea. I quickly realized I had 9 built in besties and that was much more exciting than the idea of playing volleyball. I remember how nervous and excited I was for that first game. We Won! I've since found a passion and love for this game.
I have since been selected to play in the following positions for the following teams:
Highland Middle School - Starting setter for 7th and 8th grade A teams (2015 and 2016) (8th grade Co-MVP)
Triangle VB Club (13u) - Starting setter and all around (2016)
Fort Worth Fire VB Club (13u) - Starting setter and all around (2017)
Saginaw HS - Freshman - Starting setter for JV (2017)
Fort Worth VB Club (15u) - Starting setter and all around (Current)
Even though I am usually the youngest on my team, I understand, accept and perform my role as the "quarterback" for our team. I work hard to ensure that I set the example for our team, as well as, be a positive, reinforcing influence in our success.
One of things I think is most important, is to know that just because I am the setter, I need to be versatile and excel in all positions. I am currently taking lessons to improve my passing skills to ensure that I meet our teams expectations. I have taken private's for hitting and setting as well.
I've set high expectations for myself, not only on the court, but in the classroom. My 3.9 GPA indicated that I work very hard at both. I am currently a member of Gold Standard at Saginaw High school and will be the President of this organization in fall of 2018.
With that, I also have created some lofty goals for myself as well. I am looking to join a D-I or D-II program with a pre-med curriculum as I look toward college.
