Personal Statement
Since I've started playing club volleyball, I naturally got more interested in high school and college level competition. The level of competition and success I've enjoyed at club and high school has fueled my drive to play at and, hopefully succeed at the college level.
2 years ago, I made a commitment to change clubs and try out for the must successful age-specific club team in the Houston area. They were returning all but 2 players and it was a highly competitive tryout. But I made it and we ended up finishing 2nd at 2 qualifiers and 11th at Junior Nationals in the 16 and Under Open division this past year.
I work hard in practice and games, I take my academics seriously (with my parents' help), and many of my teammates call me "mom" because sometimes I counsel them on decisions that may be harmful (such as going to parties before big games, etc.).
I feel like I have always been underrated because of my body frame (I've actually received that feedback). But the results back up my effort. And it drives me to do more. People have been surprised when they see me play (even my coach during Nationals) but I know what I can do.
I love to be part of a team whether its high school or club and I enjoy practicing and celebrating with all of my teammates. I look forward to the opportunity to take my game to the next level.
